Thriving Thursday: We should never discount our pain

Thriving Thursday's are "chew-able" episodes, where Nkechi is joined by Gaby Mammone, and asked to share perspectives from her life experiences. You will be get a taste of her wisdom and leave with a call to action. In this episode, Nkechi and Gaby, touch on the topic of comparative suffering. Comparative suffering is when you look at someone having a challenge and minimize their experience compared to the rough time you've had. This is an important topic that the "Queen" of vulnerability, Brene Brown, speaks about so effectively. In her book, "Rising Strong", she writes this, "If there's one thing I've learned over the past decade, it's that fear and scarcity immediately trigger comparison, and even pain and hurt are not immune to being assessed or ranked. [However,] the refugee in Syria doesn't benefit more if you conserve your kindness only for her and withhold it from your neighbor who's going through a divorce."We all need to give space for our pain. Pain is pain. It never goes on sale, and it should never be discounted. You deserve to feel what you feel, in the moment you feel it. So, be kind to yourself, and allow the space and time you need to heal. Stay connected with us online:https://linktr.ee/nkechinwaforrobinson

About the Podcast

The Empowered in My Skin Podcast
A podcast designed to help humans everywhere think in ways that is empowering.
This Podcast is all about helping humans think in ways that is empowering. Empowered humans, empower humans and our goal at Empowered in My Skin is to help develop one billion humans who are lead dominos for empowerment. Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, etc., everyone deserves to be empowered in the skin that they are in.

Empowered humans are thriving humans. It is our birthright to thrive. When we own our thrive, we are operating from a position of empowerment, and celebrating life in the present moment without fear. It is human nature to feel uncertain, but why does it have to take us away from our thrive, our creativity, and throw us off balance?

If we can recognize that being empowered is us choosing to accept all that is, then we have the ability to step into clarity and live in the present moment. Our "now" is all that we have and where our infinite empowered energy resides.
