So you are in the right place to become a lead domino for empowerment today.

Speaker A:

My name is Nkechi Mwaho Robinson.

Speaker A:

I'm not only your host, but I am a vibrant optimist obsessed to bring you empowering content with every single episode.

Speaker A:

We will bring you weekly content, alternating between longer episodes with featured guests and a shorter episode called Empowering Bites, where I will be joined by my co host, Gabby Memone.

Speaker A:

So if you're ready, let the show begin.

Speaker A:

Great day, amazing humans.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Welcome to another episode of Empowering Bites.

Speaker A:

And I just have to say, like, Gabby, you look like.

Speaker A:

You look.

Speaker A:

You look good today, girl.

Speaker A:

Oh, good today.

Speaker B:

Oh, thank you.

Speaker B:

Is it because of my empowerment?

Speaker A:

Yes, because you're on brand.

Speaker A:

You are on brand, girlfriend.

Speaker A:

You're on brand.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

And so we're really, really excited.

Speaker A:

Gabby has been my co host since the beginning.

Speaker B:

The beginning?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Seven.

Speaker A:

Seven seasons.

Speaker A:

It's awesome.

Speaker A:

And I remember it was a conversation.

Speaker A:

I remember I was in my car.

Speaker A:

I remember exactly where I was when you said it.

Speaker A:

And I was like, well, why don't we do it together?

Speaker A:

And you're like, oh, my God, yes.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I remember celebrating you because you just had a podcast.

Speaker B:

I was like, you know what?

Speaker B:

I don't know what it looks like, but maybe when you have your 10th episode, let me interview you or your 50th or 100th.

Speaker A:

I was like, every other episode.

Speaker A:

Let's go.

Speaker B:

I got a better idea.

Speaker B:

I was like, okay.

Speaker A:

I think it's just weird.

Speaker A:

We've been doing it consistently for seven seasons.

Speaker A:

That's almost seven.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

Covid.

Speaker A:

There was an event.

Speaker A:

There was a fast forward in Covid, because we did like, I don't know what happened, but I think we unlocked like three seasons, like in a year or something like that.

Speaker A:

Remember that?

Speaker A:

But now, technically after that, it's been every.

Speaker A:

Like, it's.

Speaker A:

Every season's a year.

Speaker A:

It's like a 52 episodes, of which 26 are hours.

Speaker B:

That is amazing.

Speaker B:

We're gonna celebrate the next.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

I think we have to.

Speaker A:

I think we gotta.

Speaker A:

We gotta.

Speaker A:

We gotta figure out how many episodes and then do a milestone.

Speaker A:

Do.

Speaker A:

Do a.

Speaker A:

Anyway, do something.

Speaker A:

Do something.

Speaker A:

Go and look at our favorite topics.

Speaker A:

Anyway, coming soon, listeners.

Speaker A:

Coming soon.

Speaker B:

Coming soon.

Speaker B:

But what a great segue into today's topic because it is about celebration.

Speaker B:

It's about leading.

Speaker B:

Well, I think so.

Speaker B:

I think so.

Speaker B:

Because leading, celebrating, it's, it's, it's what we need.

Speaker B:

We need a leadership event.

Speaker B:

And it was funny because when I originally chatted with you about your idea, you said to me, it's not just another leadership event.

Speaker B:

You said, it's a movement.

Speaker B:

So let's talk about that.

Speaker B:

I want to unpack that.

Speaker B:

Like, who is this event for?

Speaker B:

Why is it a movement?

Speaker B:

Let's talk about your lead summit.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's coming up on May 24th.

Speaker A:

Yes, I know it's coming up in 22 days actually from now from 10 to 4 in North York at SD3.

Speaker A:

Space.

Speaker A:

Really, really beautiful, creative, creative space.

Speaker A:

We have the entire, we have the entire, I think the entire venue.

Speaker A:

Ample parking tickets are on sale and eventbrite we'll share the link in the all of those things.

Speaker A:

Okay, this shameless pug promo.

Speaker A:

But, but if I think back to like so empowered.

Speaker A:

My skin was born in:

Speaker A:

And I remember I had my first event shout outs to Natalie Thompson who really encouraged me to do the first one and 38 people showed up and I was watching footage from it.

Speaker A:

It was really awesome.

Speaker A:

The room was full.

Speaker A:

But what I recognized, it was 38 people.

Speaker A:

And dear friend of mine actually too has since passed on.

Speaker A:

So Burns, I was watching her deliver her talk and, and I was looking at all the women and I, and I, you know, fast forward now to like, you know, 11 years later.

Speaker A:

And I just know that that same type of magic is going to be created.

Speaker A:

Because when I think humans come together for a common goal, to grow, to learn, to, to amplify, to increase, to, to elevate to, you know, it.

Speaker A:

Something magical truly happens.

Speaker A:

And so lead came out through in large part.

Speaker A:

Like I'm, you know, and I, I'm in tech, so why wouldn't I.

Speaker A:

So le.

Speaker A:

Like I have conversations with Chat, GBT all the time, right?

Speaker A:

And I had this conversation with Chat and I said, you know, you know me, you know, the things are important.

Speaker A:

You know, the things that I, you know, what, what fundamentally do you think are the like, what movement do you believe in this day and age that I still desire and purpose to unlock?

Speaker A:

And they're like, I, I really truly do believe you want, you want to see everyone lead, you know, And I just was like, yeah, the lead movement.

Speaker A:

You know, and then I, and then I start to think about what, what activates my lead, my leadership, right?

Speaker A:

Like, so every day I'm learning something new.

Speaker A:

Every day I'm doing my Affirmations so that I think up, right.

Speaker A:

I try as much as I can to elevate my thinking.

Speaker A:

I try as much as I can when I have an idea to not wait and say, oh, I'm gonna start Monday and just start, you know, activate that, that desire and then I will be honest with you, like, I'm not trying to fit in, man.

Speaker A:

Like, like, I think there's something so sexy about being disruptive, you know, of course.

Speaker A:

And, and yeah, and I think if you could do it in a way that really challenges the status quo and uniquely positions you to really know who you are in a room, irrespective of who's in that room or what that room looks like.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And, and I call it a movement because this is not just an event.

Speaker A:

I'm not trying to just get people into a room.

Speaker A:

But it's, it's, it's really, it's about how much, how, how transcendental, transcendent can this experience be so that when people leave, when people leave, just their movement leads others, right?

Speaker A:

Leads others to move and leads and then leads them to move others to lead.

Speaker A:

Like, you know, so it's just this domino effect, you know me on my domino effect of, of, of leadership.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Like, it's not, it's beyond the titles, it's, it's really about giving your step purpose, giving your voice, you know, audible recognition so that when you speak, people know what you stand for, you know, and, and you can't do that unless you, unless of course, you lead.

Speaker A:

And I'll give a little bit of sneak peek, but I will deliver some of a short talk, you know, and it's called don't drop the lead.

Speaker A:

Don't drop your lead.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

Don't drop the lead.

Speaker A:

And what I mean by that is like, if I think about, like even the year that I'm navigating out of, you know, into this year, like there's one thing I, I, I could, it was a non negotiable, I was not going to stop leading, leading my life, leading others and leading like at a, at a global level.

Speaker A:

You know what I mean?

Speaker A:

Like, I didn't, I didn't miss one podcast episode, right?

Speaker A:

Like, not one.

Speaker A:

And it was a really challenging year, you know.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you, you went through it with me, right?

Speaker A:

And so, you know, I think, I think it, that's the talk.

Speaker A:

It's like, don't drop the lead.

Speaker A:

Ever.

Speaker A:

Don't drop the lead.

Speaker A:

Because let me just tell you something, you drop the lead, somebody gonna come running up Right behind you.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You stayed committed.

Speaker B:

I saw you.

Speaker B:

You stayed committed through the whole thing.

Speaker B:

You didn't get distracted.

Speaker A:

So lead stands for.

Speaker A:

Sorry, Lead stands for learn, elevate, activate, and disrupt.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And I truly.

Speaker A:

And it's because real leadership doesn't just follow the rules, creates them.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So that's.

Speaker A:

That's really about it.

Speaker A:

The other thing that's really intentional is I'm kind of going back to basics where everyone that is speaking at the event is intentionally handpicked.

Speaker A:

And these are humans that mostly directly.

Speaker A:

There is one person that I'm looking for that is.

Speaker A:

I still haven't locked down, so I have one speaker spot left, but it's very specific.

Speaker A:

I'm looking for a futurist to speak at the event, and I'll tell you why in a minute.

Speaker A:

But all the other speakers, and we will.

Speaker A:

We've started to announce them.

Speaker A:

Is that they have.

Speaker A:

There's something very profound that they have, through their leadership, led me to become.

Speaker A:

You know what I mean?

Speaker A:

Like, and so they've.

Speaker A:

They have such a profound impact to who I am on today.

Speaker A:

And that's how I started.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like, I didn't start by reaching out to people that were like, you know, people I just kind of followed.

Speaker A:

I reach out to people who in, like, had direct impact in my life that each and every single one of them.

Speaker A:

I had a personal story and had a personal reason why I felt that I needed to create a platform to further amplify their gifting, you know, and so.

Speaker A:

And trust me, these.

Speaker A:

These.

Speaker A:

These humans that are coming, it's not like they need my platform because they're already amplified, but my platform needs them.

Speaker A:

You know what I mean?

Speaker A:

Like, yeah, so.

Speaker A:

And I just.

Speaker A:

I feel to share their brilliance, you.

Speaker B:

Know, I love that.

Speaker B:

So why would someone want to attend?

Speaker B:

What highlights can they.

Speaker A:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker A:

Well, I think you are.

Speaker A:

I think that you have just an, like, insatiable desire to.

Speaker A:

To really understand when you are in a room.

Speaker A:

And I.

Speaker A:

And this might be for a podcast episode coming up, but when you are in a room, you know what problem you solve at that table.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Yeah, like, so that was something I'm intentionally trying not to.

Speaker A:

And there's nothing wrong with it, but I do tend a lot of podcast.

Speaker A:

A podcast like conferences or sit on panel discussions, and we're still like, talking, especially women talking about the imposter syndrome, you know, and.

Speaker A:

And typically, like, so we talk about that.

Speaker A:

We still talking about, like, the.

Speaker A:

The importance of networking, the importance of Getting a coach, mentor and sponsor.

Speaker A:

And, and I'm not discounting, all of these are actually really important, important topics.

Speaker A:

So I'm not trying to downplay them in any way, but I, but it's almost like the, at what point have you out, conferenced out, read out, understood these concepts to just say, okay, you know what?

Speaker A:

I don't have the.

Speaker A:

There's nothing imposter about me.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Remember that movement that I went through?

Speaker A:

Mentor, check.

Speaker A:

Got many.

Speaker A:

Coach.

Speaker A:

Oh yeah, got a coach.

Speaker A:

In fact, you know, for different parts of my life.

Speaker A:

Sponsorship.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I know who my sponsors are and I actually understand how sponsorship works.

Speaker A:

Right, sure.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then, and like all those other things, like introvert, extrovert, like labels, like, no, not doing the label thin.

Speaker A:

I know I have a voice that.

Speaker A:

So like check, check, checks, like all of those sort of, you know, networking.

Speaker A:

I'm a super necker.

Speaker A:

I'm now connecting other people to other people to get work done.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And so beyond that, let's talk about, let's, let's talk about what it takes to lead billion dollar project portfolios in a, in a, like, in, in a big corporation.

Speaker A:

Let's look like, what do those kind of conversations look like?

Speaker A:

How do you even prepare yourself to like, have them?

Speaker A:

You know, what does it take to like, get yourself to the top of like, or the ability to like, negotiate, you know, millions of dollars to support your business.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like, you know, so, so it's about, it's about, it's about unlocking sort of that next level of, you know, that toolkit pieces, like, you know that you, that you need in order to, like when you, when you're knocking at the door to get into a room.

Speaker A:

And a lot of times it's going to be rooms that there's not a lot of people that maybe look like you, but when you step in there, you actually know you have your, you know your value is set at that table.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

You know that they, they're benefiting from your presence and there's nothing, there's nothing that's dimming your shine.

Speaker A:

Absolutely nothing.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

One thing I've heard you say in the last podcast recording is it's not just about being invited to the table, but it's about being fed.

Speaker A:

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker B:

And I just, I love that.

Speaker B:

I love that.

Speaker B:

And so who else do you think would be in the room?

Speaker B:

Like, why would I purchase a ticket?

Speaker B:

Because I know the value of networking, I know the value of proximity.

Speaker B:

And if you haven't heard our proximity episode, listen to The.

Speaker B:

It's the next one actually.

Speaker B:

We're going to be talking about proximity in the next.

Speaker B:

In the next episode and.

Speaker B:

But yeah, why?

Speaker B:

Who's gonna be there?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I, I believe that you're gonna find the ability to meet other people in corporate from corporate spaces.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like, I obviously recognize that a large part of empowered, My skin attracts people in corporate and empower, my skin attracts entrepreneurs.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And it's gonna probably be people that either want to make that step away from corporate into an entrepreneurial ship role or are entrepreneurs and really want to really understand how do they further lead their product, how do they lead their team, how do they just lead life?

Speaker A:

Like, how do they lead on all dimensions of life?

Speaker A:

I think you're gonna find men, you're gonna find women.

Speaker A:

Predominantly women.

Speaker B:

Love it.

Speaker A:

But I know that there's some men that have purchased their tickets.

Speaker A:

I see there's some couples that are coming.

Speaker A:

But I think that like, networking is just so important and it's beyond like you actually need to start to be really insatiably curious about the giftings that others have.

Speaker A:

Because that's the power of your network is when you understand that because that's when you're.

Speaker A:

That's when you can activate your network.

Speaker A:

Which whole activation piece of, of lead.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So there's going to be like just a, A great, I think a diverse set of humans that are, that are probably in those spaces, like either corporate or, or entrepreneurship, that really want to elevate their lead.

Speaker B:

Oh, that's great.

Speaker B:

And before we wrap up, did you want to share why you chose the MCs that you did?

Speaker A:

So let me announce.

Speaker A:

That was a good plug.

Speaker A:

Let me announce some of the folks that are going to be emceeing and hosting this event.

Speaker A:

And so one of them is my.

Speaker A:

So yes, like I said, everything has been really very intentional and a lot of the humans that said yes to being engulfed in this mission are near and dear to me.

Speaker A:

And so guess, guess who, like this co host Gabby1B Maimone is, is a co emce with their co hosting with their executive producer Tricia Blake and also the podcast host of and founder of my third bloom.

Speaker A:

Yes, the rich auntie in the.

Speaker A:

In the metaverse.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So really, really excited.

Speaker A:

You both are going to bring such incredible energy and, and like the audience is going to have a lot of fun.

Speaker A:

I mean you are an incredible host actually.

Speaker A:

And I'm so grateful, so grateful to have your skill set and talent just make this day like epic.

Speaker B:

It's going to be amazing.

Speaker B:

It's going to be fun.

Speaker B:

I'm honored to be part of the event.

Speaker B:

I know Tricia is as well.

Speaker B:

What a beautiful co host.

Speaker B:

We're going to have a blast.

Speaker B:

The attendees, you know, for those that are listening, go online, get your ticket, bring your team, bring your besties, your spouse.

Speaker B:

It's going to be an epic, epic event.

Speaker B:

Lead May 24.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

Lead, y'all.

Speaker A:

Lead, lead, lead.

Speaker A:

It is a movement and I look forward to seeing you.

Speaker A:

And sadly, this is where we have to say I'm Ink and I'm Gabby with one B.

Speaker A:

And we're out.

Speaker A:

Bye.

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

About the Podcast

The Empowered in My Skin Podcast
A podcast designed to help humans everywhere think in ways that is empowering.
This Podcast is all about helping humans think in ways that is empowering. Empowered humans, empower humans and our goal at Empowered in My Skin is to help develop one billion humans who are lead dominos for empowerment. Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, etc., everyone deserves to be empowered in the skin that they are in.

Empowered humans are thriving humans. It is our birthright to thrive. When we own our thrive, we are operating from a position of empowerment, and celebrating life in the present moment without fear. It is human nature to feel uncertain, but why does it have to take us away from our thrive, our creativity, and throw us off balance?

If we can recognize that being empowered is us choosing to accept all that is, then we have the ability to step into clarity and live in the present moment. Our "now" is all that we have and where our infinite empowered energy resides.
