Speaker A:So today we welcome the visionary behind Just to Sweat.
Speaker A:So please join me in a gigantic, massive, godly podcast.
Speaker A:Welcome for Adanique Chara.
Speaker B:Beautiful.
Speaker B:My gosh, thank you, thank you.
Speaker B:Oh, ink.
Speaker B:I love it.
Speaker A:I love you so, Nikkei.
Speaker A:So Adanique, but we're going to call her Nikke.
Speaker A:Nikke through this.
Speaker A:Okay, so what has been your most empowering thought of the day so far?
Speaker B:Wow, good question for me was my empowering thought today would have been, you know, you're worthy.
Speaker B:Worthy.
Speaker B:I think we as women get up in the morning and look at everything negative first.
Speaker B:And then this morning I was inspired to remember you are worthy of what you have.
Speaker B:Because I think, okay, am I deserving of the life I live?
Speaker B:And I have the kids, I have the home, the things I have.
Speaker B:I remind this one, you know, Nikki, you are worthy.
Speaker A:You are.
Speaker B:That's God telling me you are worthy.
Speaker B:So I think that's my, my powerful thought today.
Speaker B:I'm worthy.
Speaker A:I love that.
Speaker A:And you know, it's so funny because when you say that, I was also thinking like what we were talking about earlier about we don't leave our house without putting on the full armor.
Speaker B:So we had.
Speaker A:We had a really great spiritual.
Speaker A:He don't mind B roll.
Speaker A:But we don't put on the armor.
Speaker A:We don't put.
Speaker A:We don't leave the house without putting on the armor of God before we leave.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And it's interesting because even as you're saying worthiness and you're thinking about all of the blessings that you have in your life, and you are truly worthy of them, I know this sounds counter.
Speaker A:Like, I hope it doesn't sound counterintuitive, but we're also worthy of the challenges that we're going to meet ahead of us, Right?
Speaker A:In the sense that there's something from them that is.
Speaker A:That is there to continue to strengthen us, to continue to demonstrate our wor.
Speaker A:Like the strength and the resilience and the power of our worthiness.
Speaker A:You know what I mean?
Speaker A:Like, I also feel sometimes when we say I'm worthy, we're only thinking about what.
Speaker A:And again, it's what we give meaning to.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:But we're only thinking about the things that we feel so blessed to have, but we're actually also blessed to have the experiences irrespective of.
Speaker A:What do you think about that with?
Speaker B:I think you're so right.
Speaker B:The other day, I remember thinking, I wrote a sticky down.
Speaker B:It said the detour would lead to your destiny.
Speaker B:God, what does that mean?
Speaker B:He says, the trials you're going through, things that happen to you, will lead to your destiny.
Speaker B:And even though you walk through the valley, you're right.
Speaker B:I'll fear no evil, for you're with me.
Speaker B:Then I think about the valley because we have to walk through the valley, not sit in the valley.
Speaker B:A lot of us want to sit in that valley.
Speaker B:And God says, no, we have to walk through that valley because we're going to have storms.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's what scripture says.
Speaker B:It's what life's all about.
Speaker B:We're gonna have challenges.
Speaker B:But what do you do?
Speaker B:Like, what do you do with the challenges?
Speaker B:What do you take from the challenges?
Speaker B:Are you gonna sit in your pity?
Speaker B:Because, see, for example, the best.
Speaker B:Your.
Speaker B:Your trauma, like your template.
Speaker B:And like, oops.
Speaker B:Mr. Furtick, right.
Speaker A:Is your template.
Speaker B:It's not your template.
Speaker B:I'm like, what?
Speaker B:It's not.
Speaker B:You can't.
Speaker A:Oh, it's not your template.
Speaker B:Not your template, meaning that you're not.
Speaker A:You're not defined by it.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker B:Okay, so this trauma is not my template.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:But who's my architect?
Speaker B:It's God 9 meats for greatness and good things.
Speaker B:And even though I walk through the valley, I will fear no evil.
Speaker B:And I gotta remember, Scripture says, you know, his rod and his staff.
Speaker B:His rod is protection.
Speaker B:In a devotional read about that.
Speaker B:His rod by protection, the staff is rest.
Speaker B:And we often have to learn to rest.
Speaker B:Sometimes, you know what?
Speaker B:He's protecting us.
Speaker B:Rest, but continue to walk through that storm.
Speaker B:That detour will lead to your destiny.
Speaker B:So I think that's a good thing to look at it that way, that yes, life is not life, but God is still guiding.
Speaker A:And I'm going to just double click on that.
Speaker A:And again, we're sitting in a series where we're talking about well being and wellness, right?
Speaker A:And so rest, gosh, such an ingredient in, in that, in the success of that.
Speaker A:What does rest look like for you in your life?
Speaker B:Rest is always finding my happy place.
Speaker B:In the morning, I get up early.
Speaker B:If you know me, you know, I get up very early morning.
Speaker B:God, nobody else, not my spouse, not my kids.
Speaker B:My time for rest is.
Speaker B:Rest is for me is renewal so close that I find rest for my soul and I get to recharge.
Speaker B:It's like plugging, plugging in my phone.
Speaker B:That's my rest saying, okay, I can balance out and have alignment throughout my days.
Speaker B:My values are important, my beliefs and that, that is my belief, is to spend time with God.
Speaker B:First thing it says in scripture, you know, seek God first.
Speaker B:All things, not some things, all to be added.
Speaker B:So I make sure my rest in the morning, that one hour, to be honest, it could be five minutes.
Speaker B:Guys.
Speaker B:Don't have to be an hour.
Speaker B:I've gotten to an hour.
Speaker B:It took me years to get to an hour with God.
Speaker B:But I said about five minutes, just five minutes.
Speaker B:Reading scripture, getting, getting a song on simple.
Speaker B:Then it led to me wanting to yearning to spend more time longing in that space to find my peace and find my rhythm.
Speaker B:Not about a rhythm, a rhythm of godly rhythm to show up for the world, my husband, my kids, my clients, going back to school, all these things.
Speaker B:But I find rest throughout my day because I know, okay, my soul is filled with.
Speaker B:I've got my cup to capacity.
Speaker B:So when I get to empty the end of the day tomorrow morning, I'm going in the closet.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And you're gonna build up again.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So that's, for me, is finding that rhythm of rest is in spaces where I, not the anybody else's, I and Almighty have connected to recharge my soul so I can give and not Feel empty.
Speaker A:In the Bible app, there's actually a devotional.
Speaker A:It's by Pastor Rick Warren.
Speaker A:I think it's a, I think it's a year, I think it's a year devotional.
Speaker A:One of the daily devotionals talks about work from a place of rest versus rest from work.
Speaker A:And so I love like, and, and that's why I asked you what rest is because I think a lot of people think rest is like vacation and this any other.
Speaker A:And I think I, I would say I, I incorporate pockets of rest throughout my day.
Speaker A:So I try to always like, like if I have a big afternoon schedule, then I try to do something at lunchtime that invites rest, some type of rest.
Speaker A:Like if I'm at home, shameless, take a quick power nap, go for a walk, sit outside in nature, read a book, call somebody who makes me laugh.
Speaker A:But so that, that way when I'm starting the afternoon, it's, it's almost, it's that, it's like that, that godly refresh rate, like I feel refreshed and revived to be able to go and handle whatever is next ahead of me.
Speaker A:But we talked about that, we talked about the, the armor of God and, and, and I know we didn't, we didn't.
Speaker A:This is not, this is not how I planned to start the interview.
Speaker A:But it's, it's fed from the moment that we had together because I think it's actually really key and critical to wellness and well being.
Speaker A:How you start your day truly influences the rest of your day.
Speaker A:And we both agreed that we don't talk to basic humans before facts.
Speaker B:Yeah, we have to talk to something.
Speaker A:Higher and than us.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And so what, what, what value, like, what value can you share to our listeners to adopt that habit?
Speaker A:Irrespective, like, I don't have kids.
Speaker A:You have kids.
Speaker A:You have, I have a husband.
Speaker A:You have a husband.
Speaker A:But like, so when people think, well, but I have to get the kids ready, I have to do this, I have to do that.
Speaker A:Like, you know, help them develop a habit of deciding and choosing differently in the morning.
Speaker B:I love that you, you are your biggest asset.
Speaker B:I always, often I have a lot of moms that I deal with and I said to them, I get it, your kids, your husband.
Speaker B:Remember before them, it was you, it was you, it was always you.
Speaker B:And you have to give yourself enough grace to show up for yourself as soon as your eyes open.
Speaker B:I am not thinking about anybody but God.
Speaker B:I'm up this morning.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:Because if you didn't wake up this Morning, you cannot take care of the kids, husband, work, whatever.
Speaker B:You cannot take care of that.
Speaker B:So remember one thing when you get up in the morning.
Speaker B:Affirmation, simple thing.
Speaker B:Thank you for today.
Speaker B:I'm alive, basic, and I'm going to take care of myself.
Speaker B:First thing.
Speaker B:It could be the first five minutes sitting on your bed, going through affirmations.
Speaker B:Literally, not your phone, literally going through affirmations about you.
Speaker B:I'm enough, I am worthy, I'm grateful for today.
Speaker B:Just basic stuff.
Speaker B:Five minutes that's you pouring back into yourself to give to your kids, your husband.
Speaker B:Do these things and then stretch like I do.
Speaker B:A five minute stretch prayer off my bed.
Speaker B:Literally, get off my bed, get my ankles rolling, hands going and just sing.
Speaker B:I can sing out hymn, song or sing anything.
Speaker B:Just.
Speaker B:It's just my time with God to make sure that I'm able to give to these people who want to reach out because they are their family.
Speaker B:They get to be taking, taking, taking.
Speaker B:It's still a lot.
Speaker B:You got a husband and they have questions and this is happening.
Speaker B:You have email coming up on your phone.
Speaker B:Forget about it.
Speaker B:The emails on your phone, not your priority.
Speaker B:First thing in the morning.
Speaker B:I am sorry.
Speaker B:You are an employee number.
Speaker B:I worked in corporate for 19 years.
Speaker B:You were.
Speaker B: I was employee number: Speaker B:I'll never forget.
Speaker B:That's my number.
Speaker B:Tomorrow they can say, you know, hey, by the way, Nikki, we don't need you anymore.
Speaker B:What am I going to do with that information?
Speaker B:I'm going to go home.
Speaker B:And so, yes, but if I'm grounded in my faith and my, and my belief and what matters to me most is my person that can't shake me.
Speaker B:It's secondary to my health.
Speaker B:Keeping healthy, your health is a priority because if you're not healthy as a human being, you cannot do anything else.
Speaker B:The hospital bed is the most expensive bed in the world.
Speaker B:The hospital bed is the most expensive bed in the world.
Speaker B:And people who are in it right now would die to be in your shoes.
Speaker B:You are somebody's prayer point.
Speaker B:No matter what body you're in, you are somebody's prayer point.
Speaker B:So remember that when you get up.
Speaker B:Oh, my, I'm aching.
Speaker B:I'm so and so.
Speaker B:But you're able to get out of bed.
Speaker B:That's a blessing.
Speaker B:Count that joy and get out.
Speaker B:Do what you got to do with happiness and joy because you are not in that bed.
Speaker B:That person is praying for your blessing that you think is a burden.
Speaker B:It's not a burden.
Speaker B:It's a blessing that you got up this morning, able to put your feet on the ground.
Speaker B:That to me, is joy.
Speaker B:Getting up, feet on the ground.
Speaker B:Able to get up myself.
Speaker B:Counting all joy.
Speaker A:It's so simple.
Speaker A:It's so simple.
Speaker A:Yet I do believe there are so many people that don't do it today.
Speaker A:And I implore you, like what she just explained.
Speaker A:It's not.
Speaker A:I think that could be done in five minutes.
Speaker A:And I always say the temp Brene Brown.
Speaker A:The 10 minutes you do is better than 60.
Speaker A:You don't.
Speaker A:Like if you don't have 10 minutes to give yourself every morning.
Speaker A:Like, you gotta.
Speaker A:You gotta fix something up in your life.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And so you touched on it too.
Speaker A:But the importance of identity.
Speaker A:And you know, when I really start to lock into it, I recognize that mine was not strongly rooted.
Speaker A:And so talk to me about how you would define identity.
Speaker B:Identity.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:For me, it's who I am in Christ.
Speaker B:Like, I go out every day, and my goal as a godly woman is to make sure people see God first.
Speaker B:Because I'm human and I have my flaws.
Speaker B:Hence I go in the closet.
Speaker B:It's true.
Speaker B:If they know me, they know.
Speaker A:Oh, no, she has a.
Speaker A:She has a clot.
Speaker A:I wish I had a picture of the closet.
Speaker A:You might have to send it to me so I could like.
Speaker A:Like working into this video.
Speaker A:She has closets.
Speaker B:It is something, though.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:So I know.
Speaker B:I go in that space.
Speaker B:People know me, know me, know me, know Nick.
Speaker A:And how long can you have that closet, if you don't mind me asking?
Speaker B:There's 20.
Speaker B:What are we, 20, 23?
Speaker B:17.
Speaker B:2017.
Speaker B:I've had it.
Speaker A:Yeah, he started it.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker B:Once you get a time.
Speaker B:And now it's like a.
Speaker B:It's a.
Speaker B:It's a war.
Speaker B:It's a war zone in there of skate stickies that helped me as a human show up Godly.
Speaker B:My legacy in life would be, you know what, though?
Speaker B:She.
Speaker B:She knew God for herself.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:Her and God are besties, and that's fine.
Speaker B:I don't want it to be where you see me.
Speaker B:And I didn't show Christ because the world is hurting.
Speaker B:And if I can just show up and show you God in any capacity, I'm good.
Speaker B:Because I get to.
Speaker B:I get to give you a little bit of joy because I have.
Speaker B:God's given me so much joy.
Speaker B:I get to give back.
Speaker B:So my identity for me is that.
Speaker B:That I'll be able to.
Speaker B:Let's eat sticky.
Speaker B:When I walk around, I want to be able to Stick my sticky on you.
Speaker B:You not knowing.
Speaker B:But I know what I'm giving you because I know I have it in my closet and I've gotten it and God has given to me to give to you.
Speaker B:So my dinner lies in Christ.
Speaker A:So let's talk a little bit about the work that you do.
Speaker A:Right through Justice Sweat, which really blends.
Speaker A:Blends fitness and spirituality and faith and such a beautiful, like tapestry.
Speaker A:And so what led you to create this?
Speaker A:I don't think I know that.
Speaker A:You know what led you.
Speaker B:Oh, no, I.
Speaker A:Maybe I do.
Speaker A:Hold on, let me just see.
Speaker A:But what led you.
Speaker A:You're going to tell the story again anyway.
Speaker A:But what led you create a ministry that moves bodies and spirits?
Speaker B:Purpose.
Speaker B:My purpose is to make sure that I impact the next generation of women that my door or the women who are next to me, I'm able to give off that, I guess the essence of Christ.
Speaker B:I would go back to Christ because I know my story is rooted in so much hurt and trauma and pain from my boyfriend passing, being murdered, me going.
Speaker B:Just me going through life and these different things that happen to me.
Speaker B:Being a behavior child and being labeled, saying, you know, you're not going to be anything.
Speaker B:You're.
Speaker B:You're.
Speaker B:You're a stat.
Speaker B:You grew up in a finch jungle.
Speaker B:You know, these, this is who we are.
Speaker B:And God transformed my life.
Speaker B:And God given me.
Speaker B:God giving me a new story.
Speaker B:God giving me a new.
Speaker B:A new, A new vision, a new purpose.
Speaker B:How come I can't testify of that goodness and give to others how God gave to me?
Speaker B:I'm undeserving of all what I have.
Speaker B:But however God saw fit with a girl like me who grew up fighting.
Speaker B:I almost went to jail for fighting.
Speaker B:Gets to live a second chance.
Speaker B:And you know what?
Speaker B:In action now, I get to give people back their health and then tell them my story and see, you know, Nikki, how come you're always this way?
Speaker B:Because God saved me.
Speaker B:But for God's grace and mercy, I wouldn't be who I am today.
Speaker B:So I get to give you your health back.
Speaker B:I get to give you a mindset back.
Speaker B:I get to let you think on things that are good and positive and true and, you know, and just worthy of, of goodness.
Speaker B:Because this world is so.
Speaker B:It's heavy.
Speaker A:It is very heavy.
Speaker B:People are going through life.
Speaker B:And if I'm able to give you one glimpse of hope, a little bit of light when you come in my basement, you get to carry that with you and be like, you know what, though?
Speaker B:But Nick has Said, but Nick, his life looks like this.
Speaker B:But Nikki always does this.
Speaker B:But Nick say, you know, go back to scripture.
Speaker B:I would, you know me, I'm like finding scripture.
Speaker B:What do you say about that?
Speaker B:You know, I have this thought, filter it through scripture and then come back to me with it.
Speaker B:Let's sit in it.
Speaker B:I know life is not perfect.
Speaker B:We have to the cards we're dealt.
Speaker B:We have to be able to navigate through life and walk through this valley.
Speaker B:So I say people just find that little small window of hope and stare at it as long as you can.
Speaker B:Because whatever you focus on gets bigger.
Speaker A:And so if I had to say like now, like I almost feel like you just did an assessment and that.
Speaker A:That listeners can go through.
Speaker A:So from that assessment, if I had to sort of say, okay, am I feeling spiritually?
Speaker A:Well, what in your opinion and your experience would that feel like?
Speaker B:It's more of a.
Speaker B:In this moment, I get to focus on this and I can focus on this.
Speaker A:So it's presence.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:I can control this moment because I can't control what happens around me.
Speaker B:It is, it's.
Speaker B:You cannot control what they say, what they do, how they act, how they show up.
Speaker B:But I can control how I, how, how I'm going to respond to this.
Speaker B:Am I setting up the right boundaries and bounties is the word is used.
Speaker B:It's watered down now I get it.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:But I'm saying it's true.
Speaker B:It's something you have to put up.
Speaker B:You got to put up a fence sometimes and be like, I need to protect this moment of mine.
Speaker B:This is my space.
Speaker B:Because your peace something always pursuing.
Speaker B:We're always pursuing peace.
Speaker B:Peace is your position of power.
Speaker B:Your pieces you got.
Speaker A:Peace is your position of power.
Speaker B:It really is.
Speaker B:Once you find that centenness and say, you know, though I won't be shifted from this who have built.
Speaker B:Because it took me lots of years to put peace together in my life.
Speaker B:It's a puzzle.
Speaker B:And as I'm constantly okay, does this serve me?
Speaker B:And at what capacity can I put it in a compartment where I don't need it?
Speaker B:If it's stressing me, Lord, help me and my guys.
Speaker B:You have to go to a higher power to find some kind of control.
Speaker B:Because you do it on your own, you're going to fail.
Speaker B:It's like getting on a bus and trying to drive the bus.
Speaker B:Not a bus driver.
Speaker B:Get on the bus and sit down.
Speaker B:Yeah, right.
Speaker A:No, you know your know your lane.
Speaker B:He knows his route.
Speaker B:Yeah, tell him sir, we're gonna Go on.
Speaker B:I'm from.
Speaker B:I'm from the hood.
Speaker B:Gonna say 32C.
Speaker B:We're not gonna go on.
Speaker B:We're not going in that bus.
Speaker B:Like, we know what we're going.
Speaker B:He knows.
Speaker B:We know what he's doing.
Speaker B:He knows what he's doing.
Speaker B:So my thing is to let God take control of what you cannot control.
Speaker B:If it's a person, a thing, a behavior, an attitude, even your finances, even your health, I tell my clients all that.
Speaker B:Guys, you've created these habits in life.
Speaker B:You have to unlearn them.
Speaker B:Baby steps.
Speaker B:We cannot say, hey, I want to be skinny overnight.
Speaker B:You didn't get.
Speaker B:I would say you didn't get bigger overnight.
Speaker B:The way it's going to take time.
Speaker B:You have to learn these things, put in these principles, saying to me, I'm gonna have more water.
Speaker B:Because it's something you can attain, right?
Speaker B:You got to have these things.
Speaker B:Is it.
Speaker B:Is it smart?
Speaker B:Is it a smart goal things, right?
Speaker B:Is it realistic?
Speaker B:I can't say I'm gonna cut.
Speaker B:I'm gonna.
Speaker B:I'm gonna not eat a burger or I'm not gonna eat bread ever.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And then I can't say I'm gonna intermittent fasting for the rest of my life because you go to Jamaica on vacation.
Speaker B:I promise you, you're not fasting.
Speaker B:We know that.
Speaker B:So you can't maintain this for lifestyle.
Speaker B:Please don't start it.
Speaker B:My guys learn to properly manage your body.
Speaker B:See me manage your thoughts.
Speaker B:It's same thing you manage your mindset.
Speaker B:You can manage everything else, but your mind is your greatest asset.
Speaker B:Your mind is your greatest asset.
Speaker B:I often say I'm a guys, that's where the battle starts.
Speaker B:In your mind.
Speaker B:You say you can't.
Speaker B:It's true.
Speaker B:You're not going to do it.
Speaker A:So in a moment, in the present moment, if I had to sort of summarize that from the question, then it's, it's.
Speaker A:It's being able to know that in any moment, you're able to tap into a grounding that.
Speaker A:That feels.
Speaker A:That you feel peace.
Speaker A:You don't feel like.
Speaker A:What's that word?
Speaker A:Like, you don't feel resistance, but you feel flow.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:And you are able to wait and be patient for the guidance.
Speaker B:Yeah, I'm calm.
Speaker B:It's finding that stillness of.
Speaker B:I can control how I breathe, and you can't breathe for me.
Speaker B:No, there's no way.
Speaker A:No, you can't.
Speaker B:So therefore, I cannot control how you show up.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:But I can breathe through this moment and get through it.
Speaker B:Trauma Life is going to happen around.
Speaker B:It's a whole storm.
Speaker B:One thing I can control is Nikkei.
Speaker B:I can either get up and get in my car.
Speaker B:I can either get up from where I am, or I can sit still and be like, you know what?
Speaker B:I can't control what's being said in the moment because it's a big whatever.
Speaker B:Whatever's happening.
Speaker B:But I'm going to learn to keep my feet.
Speaker B:I'm alive.
Speaker B:I am.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:That means I'm present.
Speaker B:My feet are grounded.
Speaker B:That's reminded.
Speaker B:I'm.
Speaker B:I am present.
Speaker B:It is going to be fine.
Speaker B:I can keep my chest up and I can breathe intentionally.
Speaker B:Breathe.
Speaker B:Because we don't believe we can go out here.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:Into your nose, out for your mouth.
Speaker B:Control the moment.
Speaker B:People can't see it.
Speaker B:You're trying to breathe.
Speaker B:It only, you know.
Speaker B:You may think, they can see me, they can see me.
Speaker B:They have no idea.
Speaker B:People have their own issues going on.
Speaker B:Eh, what's happening?
Speaker B:But you're going through a moment right now.
Speaker B:You're trying to gather your thoughts.
Speaker B:Something's happening.
Speaker B:Just breathe.
Speaker B:Breathe minded.
Speaker B:I am present.
Speaker B:It's gonna be okay.
Speaker B:This too.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Both good and bad.
Speaker A:So I have to ask you, because even up until now, everyone might be like, man, she's figured this all out.
Speaker A:So, you know, with your prayer closet, with setting, you know, putting on the armor of God at the morning and all of this grounding this and reminder to be at peace.
Speaker A:Have you.
Speaker A:When was the last time you experienced a spiritually shaken moment?
Speaker A:Like a moment where your spiritual wellness was shaken and maybe not.
Speaker A:Maybe you haven't in a long time and.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But I'm curious to know because I don't want anyone to think that how you navigating life comes easy, you know?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A:Practice makes.
Speaker A:Practice just continues to make progress, you know?
Speaker A:Yeah, but what.
Speaker A:What brought you.
Speaker A:I know God brought you back to center, but like.
Speaker A:Like, how quickly did you have.
Speaker A:Have you experienced that recently?
Speaker B: Yeah, honestly, life: Speaker B:Like, you know, we had a flood in the basement.
Speaker B:Fridge broke down.
Speaker B:Other things happened.
Speaker B:Yeah, it was just.
Speaker B:Furnace broke down.
Speaker B:Hubby lost his job of nine years.
Speaker B:Plus, like, my car broke down.
Speaker B: many things have happened in: Speaker B:And God reminded me, nikki, it's pruning, and when you prune, it's gonna hurt.
Speaker B:So for me, it's like, you know, your life is gonna happen.
Speaker B:Things are going to be chaotic.
Speaker B:I get it.
Speaker B:But it's for me.
Speaker B:I go back to, okay, Lord, I'm Being pruned.
Speaker B:It's pruning.
Speaker B:And I got.
Speaker B:And you know, when I'm being pruned, here comes growth.
Speaker A:So you never lose it in a moment?
Speaker B:No, no, I lose.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:Come on.
Speaker B:When you.
Speaker B:When you're plucking my skin, I'm like, yeah.
Speaker B:And I sit in my car and I have a cry moment.
Speaker B:Yes, I'm human.
Speaker B:Eh.
Speaker B:And I might be like, the other day, it wasn't before my husband found a job.
Speaker B:It was like, you know, oh, my God, it's been X amount of months.
Speaker B:Like, I prayed.
Speaker B:I am one of your best friends.
Speaker B:I'm telling him, sometimes me and your besties, homie.
Speaker B:Like, what's happening?
Speaker B:Like, you said to pray.
Speaker B:And I've been praying.
Speaker B:And so he goes to me, you gotta fast.
Speaker B:I hate fasting, y'.
Speaker B:All.
Speaker B:I love Jesus, but I hate.
Speaker B:I hate it.
Speaker B:It's not my thing to do, but he had to bring me to my knees.
Speaker B:Remind me, you know what, though?
Speaker B:You're in a rush, and it's not my case.
Speaker B:It's my.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:You know, you follow my pace.
Speaker B:Do you trust me?
Speaker B:So when I'm going through a storm or a season, I gotta remember it's growth.
Speaker B:This is gonna produce growth.
Speaker B:So I can't get in my head because we often get, oh, why me?
Speaker B:And he says to me the other day, it's not about the what, the where, the how.
Speaker B:It's about the who.
Speaker B:It's about who I am.
Speaker B:And I've never leaving or forsake you.
Speaker B:And I said, you're right.
Speaker B:However, God, it's.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It seems kind of crazy.
Speaker B:Like, you're not answering.
Speaker B:Like, he's like, but it's my timing, my word, my will, my weight.
Speaker B:So for me, yes, when I'm shaking, I remember, I'm reminded it's growth.
Speaker B:And I'm being pruned.
Speaker B:And when you prune.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I have a black thumb.
Speaker B:I'm not a gardener, but I know when you prune things, they grow.
Speaker B:I do.
Speaker B:Fake trees.
Speaker B:Don't judge me.
Speaker A:I don't have any.
Speaker A:So color my thumb.
Speaker B:They're gonna die.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, no.
Speaker B:So I heard that, you know, when the garden.
Speaker B:You gotta cut and you gotta prune and do the things for it to blossom and grow.
Speaker B:Hurts.
Speaker B:Think about it.
Speaker B:When you cut things, they're gonna hurt.
Speaker B:Go back to when I'm being.
Speaker B:When I'm going through a season, I call it.
Speaker B:I go back to.
Speaker B:You know what God is?
Speaker B:Nike.
Speaker B:It's okay.
Speaker B:You needed to go through this, whatever that is.
Speaker B:Like, I go back to the beginning.
Speaker B:The detour will lead to my destiny.
Speaker B:Be caught up in the feelings because your feelings are not afraid of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:People for their feelings.
Speaker B:Not afraid of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:It's not right.
Speaker B:Remember these feelings.
Speaker B:Yes, I'm human, but God is in control.
Speaker B:And I'm learning to grow spiritually in the season I'm in.
Speaker B:Because seasons change.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:In God.
Speaker B:Yesterday, today, and forever.
Speaker B:He doesn't change.
Speaker B:So, yes.
Speaker B:I go through life, y'.
Speaker A:All.
Speaker B:It's not easy.
Speaker B:And I'm like.
Speaker B:And God's like, yeah.
Speaker B:Take a deep breath.
Speaker B:Get back to your center, which is spiritual wellness.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Learning from the purpose, your growth, your peace, and the connection with God.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I read this book called the Untethered Soul by Michael Singer.
Speaker A:I've mentioned it so much on this podcast, but in this.
Speaker A:I honor it again in this.
Speaker A:In this particular episode, because it is all around spiritual wellness.
Speaker A:And it's your ability to untether from the situations you're in.
Speaker A:I think it's a reminder that God's got everything.
Speaker A:Everything.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:Everything.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And so to those that are listening and to really grasp what, like, Nikita shared, it's.
Speaker A:It's almost like you need to figure out your.
Speaker A:Your, like your handy trigger alert.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Like, when you know that you are.
Speaker A:You're gonna.
Speaker A:You're about to enter into a situation or a circumstance, or you're in a situation or circumstance that has the chance to shake your spiritual wellness.
Speaker A:It's like, what's that thin?
Speaker A:Or who's that person that can.
Speaker A:That you can quickly.
Speaker A:I mean, should be God, but something that.
Speaker A:Something that.
Speaker A:Like, even if I were to text you first, you are my.
Speaker A:You are my conduit.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Because your next thing that comes back, I promise you, is going to be a godly message.
Speaker A:It's going to be scripture.
Speaker A:It's going to be something.
Speaker A:It's going to be prayer.
Speaker A:It's going to be something.
Speaker A:But you have to know who's that person that can quickly realign you.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Because there's.
Speaker A:There's a great other thing.
Speaker A:Like, you have to truly believe there's only a stream of God, like spiritual wellness that flows.
Speaker A:Only a stream.
Speaker A:You can be in it or out of it, but it flows just the same.
Speaker A:And so it's trying to figure out, how do you get back into that flow?
Speaker B:It's worship for me.
Speaker A:And worship.
Speaker A:Eh.
Speaker B:Put on a song and it takes you seconds.
Speaker B:You could be in your Car and put on worship.
Speaker B:Your worship is your weapon.
Speaker B:It is your weapon.
Speaker B:And you see, you talked about going to people or going to somebody to align you.
Speaker B:I have to say, your.
Speaker B:Your circle.
Speaker B:That person was going to give you godly advice.
Speaker B:Go to them.
Speaker B:Not for the person who's going to give you that.
Speaker B:Oh, you know.
Speaker B:No, no, the person who's going to check you and tell you, you know what, though?
Speaker B:Get scripture or put on his worship song.
Speaker B:Like, I have girlfriends who send me worship songs just out of the.
Speaker B:Randomly at the blue.
Speaker B:I know what it means.
Speaker B:It means play it.
Speaker B:Because whatever that means, whatever in the moment, whatever spiritual warfare, whatever that is, put on my worship song and put on songs have meanings.
Speaker B:And I get it.
Speaker B:I'm a Tupac fan.
Speaker B:Don't judge me.
Speaker B:And I have moments where I put on Tupac.
Speaker B:I want to be a gang.
Speaker B:And I wanna.
Speaker B:I wanna.
Speaker B:I wanna.
Speaker B:You know, there's some worship that.
Speaker A:There's some mercy that make you feel like God's gangster, man.
Speaker A:I shared one the other day.
Speaker A:Yeah, bro.
Speaker A:Like, there's some worship that.
Speaker A:That I'm like, I'm God gangster right now.
Speaker B:And you have to.
Speaker B:Jesus took tables.
Speaker B:Are we okay here?
Speaker B:Like, you have to be thugger sometimes.
Speaker B:And you gotta put on some.
Speaker B:Some.
Speaker B:Some music.
Speaker B:Be like, you know what?
Speaker B:I need to show up myself today, and it's gonna motivate me to get through my day.
Speaker B:Yeah, I'm gonna put on play.
Speaker B:And sometimes you gotta put on something like, you know what, though?
Speaker B:Jesus, take the wheel.
Speaker B:Jesus, take the wheel.
Speaker B:Not.
Speaker B:I got.
Speaker A:Lord, I'm gonna say, I don't know.
Speaker A:Shivera sent you before, but there's this song called All Authority.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:It was the theme song of Women Evolve.
Speaker B:I got it.
Speaker B:Got it from my.
Speaker B:Yes, I got it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You know what?
Speaker B:I got a text to me from.
Speaker B:Somebody actually Win sent it to me.
Speaker B:Yes, I got it from Melissa.
Speaker B:I got it.
Speaker B:Yeah, Melissa.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:That one.
Speaker A:She sent you that one?
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:All authority that lives in me, and it's about time I use it like, that's my gangster song.
Speaker A:Like, I'm like, God, I am using all authority.
Speaker B:I showed up, and you walk into spaces that God sent you, you know, thinking about, you know, you won a meeting.
Speaker B:Like, God sent me here.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:What she didn't tell you?
Speaker A:Y' all not feeling the Holy Spirit right now?
Speaker B:Okay, where's the money?
Speaker B:Like, show me.
Speaker B:Like, I came in there with.
Speaker B:I came in there with authority.
Speaker B:I have kingdom authority.
Speaker B:God said to me, to his daughter so what?
Speaker A:Yeah, I love it.
Speaker A:And so, like, so then also maybe there are some people right now that are like, man, I've been so disconnected from my faith and from God, and I'm going through something right now, and I feel like God's not in it.
Speaker A:What would you.
Speaker A:How can they begin to.
Speaker A:Or what's your words of wisdom to help them start to rebuild that connection without guilt or shame?
Speaker A:Because some people take some for, like, there's someone right now.
Speaker A:Like I said, God.
Speaker A:So he's inviting you back.
Speaker A:Like, he's never gonna say no.
Speaker A:He's just.
Speaker A:He's just here waiting.
Speaker A:My child come, you know, and she's like.
Speaker A:I was like, no judgment, zero.
Speaker A:And if you step out again, he's coming back.
Speaker A:He's waiting again, you know, so.
Speaker A:But for you, what's.
Speaker A:What's someone who's listening that feels disconnected.
Speaker B:You just need to be fed.
Speaker B:Like, it's just feeding of your soul and getting into God's word slowly.
Speaker B:Lily, taking a verse.
Speaker B:Find your anchor verse.
Speaker B:I'm always about verses.
Speaker B:Find one verse that feeds your soul and sit with that verse.
Speaker B:It says in Psalm 119, 105, your word lamp unto my feet, lamb unto my path.
Speaker B:So it's just finding that verse and going back to God and say, you know what, God, Here I am.
Speaker B:And laying it at the altar.
Speaker B:Christianity, my guy, my dad says this all the time.
Speaker B:God has no grandchildren.
Speaker B:It's about you and God.
Speaker B:Three, you grew up in the church.
Speaker B:Whatever, whatever.
Speaker B:All this stuff.
Speaker B:No, no.
Speaker B:God has no grandchildren.
Speaker B:And I'm like, well, we're all children of God, right As you are.
Speaker B:Come to me, all your worry and burden, and I will give not the world.
Speaker B:I will give you rest for your soul.
Speaker B:So I think for the person listening is, you know what?
Speaker B:God is merciful.
Speaker B:His mercies are new every morning.
Speaker B:It's lamentations, morning by morning, new mercy.
Speaker B:I see he's gonna provide it.
Speaker B:So I want you to remember that God is a God of mercy, love, joy, peace, and.
Speaker B:And hope.
Speaker B:He's the hope of the world.
Speaker B:So he doesn't want you to feel guilt, shame.
Speaker A:He doesn't judge contrary to God's love.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:That is the world telling you that.
Speaker B:That is the enemy telling you that enemy only comes to steal, kill and destroy.
Speaker B:About love and calmness, enemies, chaos.
Speaker B:This is what he is.
Speaker B:So God says to you, you know what?
Speaker B:Don't come as you are broken.
Speaker B:He likes the broken.
Speaker B:We're all broken.
Speaker B:He knows.
Speaker B:He knew us.
Speaker B:He knew us.
Speaker B:My mother's womb.
Speaker B:You are fearfully, wonderfully made.
Speaker B:It's Psalms 119.
Speaker B:I'm sorry, Psalms 139, 14.
Speaker B:That's who we are in Christ.
Speaker B:We gotta remember.
Speaker B:Come as you are.
Speaker B:Beautiful, broken, uncertain, weary, your last limb.
Speaker B:But he wants you to come and just lay it down and leave it.
Speaker B:As a parent, we all have parents, and we know parents who are incredible parents want to give, give, give, give, give, give, give.
Speaker B:It doesn't matter how much you've done bad and how they want to choke you and punch you in the face.
Speaker B:And I have kids, and my son, I God, love my son.
Speaker B:I love him with my whole heart.
Speaker B:But, boy, he tested my patience.
Speaker B:But I promise, if you call me mom to come get me, I will show up.
Speaker B:It could be 2 o' clock in the morning.
Speaker B:It could be whatever in the morning.
Speaker B:Great, kid, but whatever, I will make sure that he's provided for.
Speaker B:Think about it.
Speaker B:God Almighty wants to do tenfold that for us as women of faith and women of God.
Speaker B:Even if you're not like, he just loves.
Speaker B:He created you.
Speaker A:Girl.
Speaker A:So one of the things, I just want to give you flowers publicly.
Speaker A:Like, Nikkei has created a community on the Bible app.
Speaker A:And I don't even.
Speaker A:I hope one day, you know, you know how many times I'm like, I hope one day we, we all just get on a call, you know, and meet each other.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Just plug in that.
Speaker B:I don't.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Be nice.
Speaker A:But yeah.
Speaker A:And every morning I think it's like, it's, it's become a practice.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And so I also think finding a community of, like, that is so important.
Speaker A:And so one, one last question I want to ask you is, like, through this series, we're covering money, relationships and physical fitness.
Speaker A:And so, you know, how do you see spirituality and connecting all of these.
Speaker B:Pieces, all of it through meditation?
Speaker B:Because everything has meditated.
Speaker B:Meditate to.
Speaker B:Let's say I gotta, in my mind, meditate to.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:I want to show off my workouts.
Speaker B:Yeah, I gotta meditate.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:I'm gonna show up to eat this kind of food to make my body better.
Speaker B:Meditation to find peace and connection and just like sovereignty and who you are as a person.
Speaker B:We're always growing, always evolving.
Speaker B:Doesn't matter how old you are, you're always moving forward.
Speaker B:The thing is just finding that peace to meditate on the fact that I wanna be spiritually, well, in my mind, body and soul together.
Speaker B:We can't get to be spiritually.
Speaker B:Well, physically it's cool, but you Know, mentally, I'm not.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Finding a higher power you believe in.
Speaker B:I believe in Christ, but I'm like, guys, find something that makes.
Speaker B:That gives you a calmness because you cannot control the world especially.
Speaker B:But I actually, God help me control my next.
Speaker B:And if you're looking for whatever you're looking for, I know people looking for spouses, people looking for connection, whatever, you know, God, give me your best.
Speaker B:Obviously, you know, the prayer is, you know, father, God, give me your best for my mind, body and soul, physically, for my workouts.
Speaker B:You know what, Give me your best in that.
Speaker B:In that area.
Speaker B:Eating wise, give me your best in that area.
Speaker B:If it's for just anything in life, you know, God, give me your best in these three areas.
Speaker A:Yeah, give me the.
Speaker B:Give me your best.
Speaker A:You know, I love that you say this because I think it's broken a mindset that I had just.
Speaker A:I would have text.
Speaker A:I would have texted my friend two nights ago or, or either.
Speaker A:Or maybe it was Friday morning where I said that I.
Speaker A:Right now, like, I had to say no to something because I said, you know, I'm feeling out of alignment physically, relationally, and financially and spiritually is the only thing that I cannot get out of alignment with because, like, that's the thing I can never get out of alignment on.
Speaker A:And it's.
Speaker A:And I have to put.
Speaker A:Be obedient to what I'm feeling.
Speaker A:But based on what you just said, I. I almost feel like, is that the right mindset?
Speaker A:Like, should I.
Speaker A:Is it O?
Speaker A:Like, is there another way I can look at it?
Speaker A:Like, how, like, my alignment as it relates to, like, my.
Speaker A:The financial, the relational and the physical aspects.
Speaker A:Because even I shared with you before this what I was feeling physically.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:For me, it's like, you know what?
Speaker B:The last spiritual piece is always the most important piece because everything spiritually.
Speaker B:But if you're not mentally, emotionally, well, it all plays a factor.
Speaker B:So I get it.
Speaker B:We can't have it.
Speaker B:To be honest, it's the heart to just.
Speaker B:Well, I feel like we're juggling.
Speaker B:What can I control right now?
Speaker B:I can't show up for this.
Speaker B:But you know what?
Speaker B:I'm good here in alignment.
Speaker B:I cannot take on these battles that are gonna keep me out of full alignment.
Speaker B:I'm able to control my spiritually cool.
Speaker B:Physically.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:I'm maintaining it.
Speaker B:At what capacity?
Speaker B:Because you think about it, we can't use 100 everywhere.
Speaker B:You can't be 100 everywhere.
Speaker B:It's just about.
Speaker B:It's like A marriage choice.
Speaker B:I talk about it in marriage.
Speaker B:It could be 80, I'm 20.
Speaker B:It could be, you know, five.
Speaker B:You're, you know, you're 95.
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker B:But it's.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Same thing.
Speaker B:So spiritually wise, I am at my A game.
Speaker B:It's cool.
Speaker B:But physically, I gotta pour back into here a little bit.
Speaker B:So trying to my spiritually, okay.
Speaker B:You know, spiritually, I'm good.
Speaker B:Lord, help me to show up in my physical body.
Speaker B:Yeah, I'm doing good here.
Speaker B:Help me show up, you know, emotionally in this body.
Speaker B:So just trying to find a healthy rhythm.
Speaker B:I call it a rhythm.
Speaker B:It's always a rhythm, refinement rhythm because our heartbeat's always beating to do.
Speaker B:You don't think about it.
Speaker B:It's just like boom, boom, balancing.
Speaker B:You got.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:No, I gotta make sure this is 50 spiritual, you know, about 25%.
Speaker B:No, no, no.
Speaker B:Is there.
Speaker B:No, there's no perfect answer to that whole.
Speaker B:Finding it right.
Speaker B:It's a rhythm of what works for Ink and for Nick and for anybody.
Speaker B:Listening to what works for you to be in alignment as, you know, being.
Speaker B:As to what it may be physically, spiritually, emotionally, but connecting it together, knowing that, you know, though I'm okay.
Speaker B:I really am okay.
Speaker B:And what is perfect?
Speaker B:To be honest, no, nothing like that actually.
Speaker A:Do like that.
Speaker B:What is perfect but God.
Speaker B:So find that whole holistic approach of us as human beings, because we are.
Speaker B:We are really, really complicated.
Speaker B:We're going to go into the world feeling anxious about what's next.
Speaker B:You can't control the person.
Speaker B:I'm driving the car.
Speaker B:Let me focus on me.
Speaker B:Put on your music.
Speaker B:Because, yes, there are people on the road that you want to choke.
Speaker B:Warlocks.
Speaker B:But put on your worship music because it calms my.
Speaker B:My senses, allows me to be okay, focus.
Speaker B:I get to drive.
Speaker B:It's a blessing.
Speaker B:I can see, talk, touch, hear the ordinary blessings y' all granted.
Speaker B:You're able to smell, touch, see, feel emotions.
Speaker B:It's a blessing.
Speaker B:Let me forget ordinary even that you can cook, you can see your.
Speaker B:You can see things.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:I'm like, guys, if you can smell like, that's God reminding us that, you know what, we're used to that purpose.
Speaker B:It's not perfect.
Speaker B:But you know what, though you have all your senses in place, you're able to communicate like your mind is in the right setting.
Speaker B:Take it for granted.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker A:My gosh.
Speaker A:I have to take you through rapid thrivers now.
Speaker A:So when I think of someone who.
Speaker B:Who.
Speaker A:When you think of someone who inspires you?
Speaker A:Who comes first to mind?
Speaker B:Oh, my gosh.
Speaker B:Oh, inspires me right now.
Speaker B:Who would that be?
Speaker B:My daughter.
Speaker A:Okay, baby.
Speaker A:Man.
Speaker B:She is the university third year great kid.
Speaker B:Does.
Speaker B:Does she just.
Speaker B:She's a great.
Speaker B:This kid is my miracle baby.
Speaker B:My blessing, my.
Speaker B:My joy.
Speaker B:My son, too.
Speaker B:But my daughter inspires me because she just does.
Speaker B:And she just does it without being me, in a sense.
Speaker B:And I feel like, wow, it's a little me in the world.
Speaker A:She's gonna have to listen to this podcast.
Speaker B:I love it.
Speaker A:Daily.
Speaker A:We all know this one daily activity that helps with your thrive.
Speaker B:My prayer closet, a book that helps.
Speaker A:You with your thrive.
Speaker B:Oh, my God, the Bible.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:What is an app that helps you with your thrive?
Speaker B:My nap.
Speaker A:An app.
Speaker A:A nap.
Speaker B:The Bible.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:And what is one misconception that people have of you, as they say.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:That they see in your thrive.
Speaker B:Oh, my God.
Speaker B:That it's.
Speaker B:That I do with ease.
Speaker B:Yeah, just do with ease.
Speaker B:I don't see that.
Speaker A:And I kind of touched on that in that one question.
Speaker B:Whatever.
Speaker B:And honestly, guys, I spend time intentionally with God and that's the only thing that keeps me sane because I do a lot of things.
Speaker B:But I mean, God is my anchor, my source, my confidant, my everything.
Speaker B:He is what keeps me going and what drives me to be a better human.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:Where do we find more of you online?
Speaker B:Just a sweat.
Speaker B:Instagram and Facebook.
Speaker B:Email me any questions you have.
Speaker B:Info@anykcharles.com.
Speaker A:Okay, I'm gonna put that in the show.
Speaker B:Notes info@a-e n I k e charles.com.
Speaker B:okay, I will answer your questions.
Speaker B:I want to be able to.
Speaker A:She'll pray for you too.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker B:Don't, Don't.
Speaker B:I will pray for you.
Speaker B:No, she will.
Speaker A:She will.
Speaker A:I mean, I'm serious.
Speaker A:She will.
Speaker A:If you have a petition.
Speaker B:Yeah, what's that group pray.
Speaker B:WhatsApp group that we have.
Speaker B:If you want to join.
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker B:Just to pray.
