Great day, amazing human.
Ingke Chi:Welcome to the Empowered in My Skin podcast where our mission is to help 1 billion people in this world think in more empowering ways.
Ingke Chi:Empowered humans empower humans.
Ingke Chi:So you are in the right spot to become a lead domino for empowerment today.
Ingke Chi:My name is Ingke Chi.
Ingke Chi:I'm not only your host, but I am a vibrant, optimist, obsessed success to bring you empowering content.
Ingke Chi:With each episode.
Ingke Chi:We will be bringing you content alternating between longer episodes with featured guests and shorter episodes called Empowering Bites, where I'll be joined by my co host, Gabby Mamone.
Ingke Chi:So if you're ready, let the show begin.
Ingke Chi:Great day, amazing humans.
Ingke Chi:Yes.
Ingke Chi:Welcome to the next episode of Empowered My Skin.
Ingke Chi:And this is going to be potentially, I never ever figured it out actually.
Ingke Chi:So I know the last time I was like, this might be my first solo episode.
Ingke Chi:Well, this is going to be my third kind of solo episode.
Ingke Chi:And so we had a, our first ever, I think, in six seasons, no show.
Ingke Chi:And so I have to do something because this is an episode that needs to air this week.
Ingke Chi:And so transparently, I am recording this on the Sunday and it's airing this Thursday.
Ingke Chi:So I have to, as a woman with many hats, I have to do all of my editing on Sunday to make sure that it's ready for the week and so that others on the team can do what they need to do to get the, the show out and available for all of you enjoying listening and, and visual pleasures.
Ingke Chi:So today, working with my executive and this is what we do on Empowered My Skin, I truly do believe that very empowered humans adapt quickly.
Ingke Chi:I heard it yesterday.
Ingke Chi:A great, great friend of mine talked about the adaptability quotient and it's the ability to not get caught up about.
Ingke Chi:It was just a no show.
Ingke Chi:It's not a big deal.
Ingke Chi:We have, you know, we just put our minds together immediately to figure out how do we move next because I have no idea.
Ingke Chi:You know, I, I hope that the guest is actually okay.
Ingke Chi:I've reached out and first and foremost, I don't take it personal.
Ingke Chi:And so I think that that helps to keep you in an empowered spirit.
Ingke Chi:So that's maybe the first tip today is a good way to stay empowered is to not take things so personally and to recognize that you have the ability always to adapt and to pivot and to be creative and to, and to sometimes they'll get still, you know, or lean in, reach out for help.
Ingke Chi:The first thing I thought to do is call my amazing executive producer, Trish Blake, and she is the queen of creativity on creativity on the spot.
Ingke Chi:And we came up with this brilliant idea, which is to reuse content, because we have a lot of content.
Ingke Chi:We have six seasons of content.
Ingke Chi:And that quickly led me to realize what was some commonality.
Ingke Chi:We were thinking about taking an episode so thematically, and then I was like, you know what?
Ingke Chi:I've never actually done this.
Ingke Chi:And it is a question I ask on every episode.
Ingke Chi:And if you are an avid viewer or listener of Empowered Miskin, you might know what that question is.
Ingke Chi:But I have asked every guest, with the exception of on our series, like our series episodes, but we haven't had too many of those comparative to the 300 and episodes that we've done.
Ingke Chi:300 plus, I'm going to say, because I think this is now three.
Ingke Chi:Oh, this is episode 303.
Ingke Chi:300 plus, I could say.
Ingke Chi:Plus.
Ingke Chi:Now I have asked every guest, pretty much.
Ingke Chi:Now I'm being like, okay, now I'm really thinking about it.
Ingke Chi:This podcast started as, oh, you may not know this.
Ingke Chi:We're going to go a little bit of on a journey here.
Ingke Chi:This podcast started his own youn Thrive.
Ingke Chi:And then it changed to Empowered in my skill in the podcast.
Ingke Chi:And when it changed that, I start to ask every guest the question, what does empowered in my skin mean to you?
Ingke Chi:So I might have been doing that since ep, since season two.
Ingke Chi:So that's a lot of amazing humans answering that same question in their skin.
Ingke Chi:Right.
Ingke Chi:Because that's the one thing that we.
Ingke Chi:Nobody can wear my skin.
Ingke Chi:I can't wear your skin.
Ingke Chi:And I'm just going to tackle something that I've also found very interesting is that depending on the.
Ingke Chi:I'm going to say, race of the guest.
Ingke Chi:Yeah.
Ingke Chi:I know initially that question perplexed some people, but yes, we all have skin.
Ingke Chi:All of us, irrespective of the shade of the skin, we all have skin.
Ingke Chi:And it is the largest organism on our body, I believe, that we all possess.
Ingke Chi:And so I've asked that question.
Ingke Chi:And so this episode is picking a few guests from season six, whom.
Ingke Chi:And I will tell you, in the interest of time, I have figured out a method to randomly select some guests that answered this question and in ways that I.
Ingke Chi:That I just.
Ingke Chi:I absolutely loved and have, as has stayed with me, you know, so.
Ingke Chi:And then I will also answer this question for you.
Ingke Chi:So let's take a moment to hear back from some of our guests and how they answered.
Ingke Chi:As a final question, this podcast is called Empowered in My Skin.
Ingke Chi:And I'd love to know what that.
Speaker B:Means to you empowered in my skin.
Ingke Chi:To me, it means that every day I get up and I try to be the best version of me, and.
Speaker B:Even when I don't, even when I.
Ingke Chi:Fall down, I remember the things that I've done that have lifted others or.
Ingke Chi:Or encouraged others or given others confidence, and that gives me my little.
Ingke Chi:My little boost to continue and to feel empowered because of the power that I give others.
Ingke Chi:Right.
Ingke Chi:It's reciprocated.
Ingke Chi:I love that.
Ingke Chi:So, as a parting question, this podcast is called Empowered in My Skin, and we'd love to know what that means to you.
Speaker C:First of all, the title of that title's brilliant.
Speaker C:Empowered in my Skin.
Speaker C:You know what that means to me?
Speaker C:I feel like that's a constant journey.
Speaker C:And I think we get in.
Speaker C:I'll speak in the eye perspective.
Speaker C:I am empowered in my skin.
Speaker C:And then I'll have moments where I'm feeling stressed out or insecure or frustrated, and it's almost like I have to re.
Speaker C:Empower myself in my skin and.
Speaker C:And have those rituals, if you will, and those practices and prayer and meditation to get myself remembering who I am to do what I'm here to do.
Speaker C:And I think sometimes people think that people are always strong and empowered in their skin.
Speaker C:And I think sometimes we're all.
Speaker C:It's a constant journey.
Speaker C:And I think people do become empowered in their skin.
Speaker C:I'll speak in the eye perspective.
Speaker C:I'm empowered in my skin, and I have moments when I need to remind myself who I am.
Ingke Chi:I.
Ingke Chi:Anyway, thank you.
Ingke Chi:So, as a parting question, I ask every guest, what does empowered in my skin mean to you?
Speaker D:Ooh, that's powerful.
Speaker D:For me, empowered in my skin is.
Speaker D:First of all, I'm Nigerian, I am African, I am black, and I am international, and I am.
Ingke Chi:So.
Speaker D:What's the word now?
Speaker D:I am so.
Speaker D:I don't want to use the word empowered.
Speaker D:I feel so powerful in who I am and the value I bring to the world.
Speaker D:And more importantly, I am.
Speaker D:I am a spirit.
Speaker D:I have a soul.
Speaker D:I live in this body.
Speaker D:I am of God.
Speaker D:So that's pretty much.
Speaker D:In fact, let me say it really here.
Speaker D:I am a God.
Ingke Chi:Yes.
Ingke Chi:God within you.
Speaker D:Yes.
Speaker D:So because of that, I bring so much value to the world.
Speaker D:I put something on my Instagram that's really, really.
Speaker D:It's gotten lots of people these days to be like, triple A.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:I said, yes.
Speaker D:I'm human, and I'm as well as a God, as well.
Ingke Chi:Because.
Speaker D:Because I carry a greater God inside of me.
Speaker D:I believe right so pretty much so.
Speaker D:And that's what it means to be empowered in my skin.
Speaker D:I'm so grateful for the background God has given me.
Speaker D:He knows what he was doing when he sent me to Nigeria to be born and to be raised by my parents.
Speaker D:He knows what he was doing where he has sent me here to Canada as well, to now begin to operate and begin to take it to the next level.
Speaker D:So God knows everything that he's doing, and I'm so glad.
Speaker D:I'm so blessed.
Speaker D:I'm so honored.
Speaker D:I'm so honored to be on the Empowered in My Skin podcast as well.
Speaker D:He knows what he's doing.
Ingke Chi:He always knows what he's doing.
Ingke Chi:He knows that he's bringing you back as well.
Speaker D:Yep.
Speaker D:Yeah, 100%.
Ingke Chi:The podcast is called Empowered in My Skin and would love to know what that means to you.
Ingke Chi:I think that as soon as you realize that it's all a question of choice, you're going to realize that you are empowered to do anything that you want in life.
Ingke Chi:It's a question of choice.
Ingke Chi:It's a question of choice.
Ingke Chi:That might just be the episode name.
Ingke Chi:It's a question of choice.
Ingke Chi:That's powerful, man.
Ingke Chi:So this podcast is called Empowered in My Skin, and I want to know what that means to you.
Speaker B:What that means to me is I stay true to the person that I desire to be.
Speaker B:No matter what anybody says to me, no matter how anybody treats me, no matter what buttons people try to push, I will always be true to the person that I desire to be.
Speaker B:And so if I desire to be a person of integrity, if I want to communicate with love first, if I want to be compassionate and a person of hospitality, that is who I'm going to be.
Speaker B:Even if it means I get burned sometimes, I'm going to stay true to the person that I want to be because I believe wholeheartedly that I was put on this planet for a purpose.
Speaker B:And I'm not going to let somebody's foolish behavior divert me from my purpose.
Ingke Chi:Yeah, I love that.
Speaker B:For me, being empowered in my skin means that whether I weigh 200 pounds or 120, whether I'm old and gray and withered or I'm still spry and energetic, I'm going to be true to the person that I believe I should be.
Ingke Chi:I love that.
Ingke Chi:And parting question, similar to what you asked me on yours, the name of this podcast is Empowered in My Skin.
Ingke Chi:And what does that mean to you?
Speaker C:I don't know why I think of Wonder Woman when you say that I Think just of this inner strength, that it doesn't matter how young, old, anything that you are outside, just inside is so incredibly strong.
Ingke Chi:I love that.
Ingke Chi:Okay, so you see how everyone sees that question so differently for themselves.
Ingke Chi:And that's.
Ingke Chi:That is ultimately what this podcast was all about.
Ingke Chi:That's actually what this company, this organization was all about.
Ingke Chi: unded Empowered in my skin in: Ingke Chi:I incorporated it in large part because of my sister friend, Natalie Thompson, who really encouraged me to brand it and to that it was truly a movement and that she believed that I could make this my life mission, which was to help more and more humans in this world.
Ingke Chi:One billion is the number I selected to think in ways that are empowering, because I truly do believe that empower people, empower people.
Ingke Chi:And it is a lead domino effect, you know, and that's how you create sustainable change in this world.
Ingke Chi:Because if I'm.
Ingke Chi:If through me, you are not feeling empowered, then guess what?
Ingke Chi:That domino stops.
Ingke Chi:There's no effect of my life on you in a way that continues to help you move forward.
Ingke Chi:Right?
Ingke Chi:So when you think about a stack of dominoes and you start with that lead domino, it starts to, you know, turn down all the dominoes that precede it.
Ingke Chi:And yeah, and that's what it means to be a lead domino.
Ingke Chi:Is that the way that you think, the way that you move the actions, the language that you use, you know, all have the ability to empower that next human in a way that propels them and moves them forward, you know, so that came to be through work I had been doing.
Ingke Chi:The work started with a book called A Return to Love.
Ingke Chi:And.
Ingke Chi:And when I got to this point where I was feeling extremely light in life, I.
Ingke Chi:I realized, you know, why am I name in K Chin Wafor and K Chiniera?
Ingke Chi:That it means God's gift, that I was a gift.
Ingke Chi:And if I started to think about, like, how can I use that to serve more purposefully in this world?
Ingke Chi:Well, I'm like, okay, well, I shouldn't be a gift due to certain circumstances.
Ingke Chi:I should be a gift, period, you know, in every circumstance.
Ingke Chi:And that meant that every.
Ingke Chi:Every situation, every conversation, every email, text message, phone call, voicemail, physical interaction, you know, virtual interaction, I should be a gift to that interaction.
Ingke Chi:But here's the thing.
Ingke Chi:Just because it's my name and the meaning of my name doesn't mean that that's just reserved for me.
Ingke Chi:And so, you know, empowered, my skin was really informed because I truly did believe that I wanted to create this movement of humans, empowering humans.
Ingke Chi:There's a great quote that says empowered humans, empowered humans.
Ingke Chi:And I want to see that quote really come to life in this world.
Ingke Chi:And so that is, that's what it.
Ingke Chi:That's how empowered my skin came to be.
Ingke Chi:And then truly what it means to me is I think it all starts from within.
Ingke Chi:And I think that my level of empowerment has certainly evolved and continues to evolve.
Ingke Chi:For example, I was, I was at an event yesterday, the B Fan Wills Women in Leadership event or seventh annual event, and I was the host.
Ingke Chi:And truthfully, as I record this episode, I know that through that event and on the other side of it, I'm even more empowered than I was before I started that event.
Ingke Chi:And it's less about, like, how I performed and, you know, how I felt I did, but more about the energy that I saw reflected back to me.
Ingke Chi:The hugs, the now, the posts, the post posts where humans that were there are expressing how meaningful and valuable that event was.
Ingke Chi:And as the host of the event, I, that was my responsibility was to take all of the work that the amazing organizers had did, the hours and hours and hours of meaningful moments to curate that event and to build an agenda that would help those that attended the event be inspired, motivated.
Ingke Chi:The theme was about rest.
Ingke Chi:So recharge, elevate, strategize and thrive and really understanding those components in their lives and how they can, you know, really amplify rest in their lives more so.
Ingke Chi:And it was for me to execute all of that work in a way that brought it all together and I'm going to say landed the plane for them.
Ingke Chi:I did, I did that thing and I did that thing.
Ingke Chi:And you know, especially as women, we often don't.
Ingke Chi:That's an accomplishment.
Ingke Chi:And that gets to go on my accomplishment board.
Ingke Chi:And, and what enabled me to do that is the level of empowerment that I felt in the skin that I'm in.
Ingke Chi:I wasn't trying to be somebody else.
Ingke Chi:I wasn't trying to, you know, definitely nothing to pretend, protect, hide or defend yesterday as I took to that stage in that microphone, but just an openness to, to embrace the experience and be all things, be as much of me that I could be that the, that the event required in order for those that were in my care, to be connected to the experience in a meaningful and transcending way.
Ingke Chi:And that's really what it is, is like I had to be as.
Ingke Chi:And I mean this.
Ingke Chi:Like, I'm going to explain what I mean, but the most powerful person in the room by not having anything to protect, to pretend to hide or to defend.
Ingke Chi:You get what I'm saying?
Ingke Chi:And the ability to do that and more and more, do it through more experiences, dynamic experiences, diverse experiences, leaves me every single time marveling at how empowered we can be as humans, you know?
Ingke Chi:And, yeah, so I'm doing the work to be more empowered in my skin.
Ingke Chi:And.
Ingke Chi:And I have.
Ingke Chi:I think I have a North Star on that, which I'm going to try and see if I can express in a way, because it's funny, as much as I ask this question to my guests, I never really asked myself what it means to be part of my skin.
Ingke Chi:But there's a great.
Ingke Chi:I am.
Ingke Chi:And I think I've shared it on this.
Ingke Chi:I know I've shared it on this podcast before.
Ingke Chi:It's by Michael Singer.
Ingke Chi:Close my eyes as I say it, and it says, I am the one who sees.
Ingke Chi:And from in here somewhere, meaning within me somewhere, I am the one that looks out and I'm aware of the events, the thoughts and the emotions that are passing before me.
Ingke Chi:When I think about that, it gives me just such hope for the level of expression and the heights that I can achieve as a human being in this world.
Ingke Chi:Because it's not about the accolades.
Ingke Chi:It's not about.
Ingke Chi:It makes me emotional now.
Ingke Chi:Why am I getting emotional?
Ingke Chi:It's not about the accolades.
Ingke Chi:It's not about the things I'm going to do.
Ingke Chi:It's not about the things I'm going to achieve.
Ingke Chi:It's not about that.
Ingke Chi:It's.
Ingke Chi:It's really this ability to.
Ingke Chi:To become who God truly designed me to be.
Ingke Chi:And I believe that God has destiny, purpose on everybody.
Ingke Chi:I believe that God has equipped us to blow his mind, blow God's mind, really and truly.
Ingke Chi:I think he's made it possible for it to blow his mind.
Ingke Chi:I think there's a path and in stillness we get direction.
Ingke Chi:We're guided constantly and end with everything that we know about this world and what's possible.
Ingke Chi:And we see humans accomplish it all the time.
Ingke Chi:And I believe the.
Ingke Chi:The opportunity to blow and knock out of the park what our lives were, what our unique and individual lives were designed for is possible for each and every one of us.
Ingke Chi:And.
Ingke Chi:And to me, that's being empowered in my skin is.
Ingke Chi:Is being free to that opportunity every single day.
Ingke Chi:Because I don't know what the end is, but I know that today, on this day, I have the ability to achieve my highest potential and the highest expression of what it means.
Ingke Chi:To be a human being.
Ingke Chi:And I see that in that I am statement that I am that aware and present of the life and the events and the experiences and the emotions that are passing before me.
Ingke Chi:And I'm watching how I'm responding and interacting and navigating them.
Ingke Chi:And I have that level of power of empowerment to make it as meaningful as it can be.
Ingke Chi:That's what it means to me to be empowered in my skin.
Ingke Chi:Whoa.
Ingke Chi:Who knew that this was going to be the episode that I needed to have?
Ingke Chi:I hope that you've enjoyed it and I hope that you maybe this, this day when you're listening to this, that you take out your journal or your digital notebook or you send a message to back to me.
Ingke Chi:I'd love if you sent it to me.
Ingke Chi:If you know me personally, text me.
Ingke Chi:If you're on my IG, send it in my DM on LinkedIn if you're listening to this, you know, put it into a message or respond to the post itself.
Ingke Chi:But what does empowered in my skin mean to you?
Ingke Chi:Because I do.
Ingke Chi:I do want to see a billion people in this world live from their most empowered self and achieve their highest expression of themselves as a human being in this lifetime that they have.
Ingke Chi:So it is your girl.
Ingke Chi:I I know some of you listening to this.
Ingke Chi:I know I don't know everyone that's listening to this.
Ingke Chi:Obviously this is.
Ingke Chi:I have enough grace and grace for days to tell you that I love you and I love you unconditionally and I do this and this work on this podcast for in this organization because of that love.
Ingke Chi:So it is your girl.
Ingke Chi:I thank you for listening and yeah, just continue to be great.
Ingke Chi:It's a girl.
Ingke Chi:I'm out there you have it.
Ingke Chi:I trust you are feeling more empowered in your skin.
