Speaker A:Great day, amazing human.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:Oh, my God.
Speaker A:We are here with season six seven.
Speaker A:It is the first Empowering Bites episode and I am joined by.
Speaker A:Oh, my gosh, like my, the greatest co host on the planet, Gabriella.
Speaker A:Gabby1B Mamona.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:You know who I want to thank?
Speaker B:The word.
Speaker B:The people that are listening.
Speaker B:The people that are listening, the listeners and watching.
Speaker B:We're on YouTube.
Speaker B:Thank so much.
Speaker B:We're able to record the seventh season because of you.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:I love it, I love it.
Speaker A:So I am excited because we're just trying.
Speaker A:I wanted.
Speaker A:I wanted to really approach this season with intention.
Speaker A:And if I think about, like, a couple of the things that we're doing with the Empowered My skin organization, I was like, okay, well, how do we now translate that and to the podcast, right?
Speaker A:So that, like, pull it all together.
Speaker A:So this is the year of flourish.
Speaker A: flourish, because coming like: Speaker A:Was a.
Speaker A:Was a year.
Speaker A:It was, it was a.
Speaker A:It was a year where I did not feel like I was flourishing.
Speaker A:However, the results that I received at the end of the year on a number of different, you know, I'm just going to say, like, things in my life that sort of record my performance and my progress indicated that even though I may not have felt it somehow, somewhere there was actions and things that I did or people that I met or experiences like that were curated or things that I got involved in that yielded really great results.
Speaker A:So, you know, so really got me thinking that about, like, I had way more control over what I was feeling through the year than I thought.
Speaker A: w, how do I course correct in: Speaker A:And I was like, you know, I think it's about flourishing.
Speaker A:Like, I.
Speaker A:I love the word.
Speaker A:I think it feels fresh.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Yes, it totally feels fresh.
Speaker A:It's a fresh word, and this is a fresh year.
Speaker A:And so this is a year of flourish.
Speaker A:And so, yeah, I invite, I invite that intention into the organization this year for everyone, everyone that's connected to it, anyone that's going to be served from it.
Speaker A:And so my idea is that by the end of the year, the testimonies of how people flourished are going to be great.
Speaker A:And I'm really, really excited about, about all of that.
Speaker A:So, so I thought we can kick off this, like, our first empowering bite episode by talking about flourishing and, yeah, and, and really what it means, what it, you know, I think it, I think it's also a journey that can be extremely personalized.
Speaker A:But I can sort of talk about some of the things that we'll focus on the, like that we will try to use this organization to amplify.
Speaker A:But I know that typically you ask, well, I don't know if that's typical anymore because I think we switched things up quite some time ago.
Speaker A:So, Gabriella, Gabby, how has that word, like, what does that word mean to you?
Speaker A:And like, how do you feel you flourish in various aspects of your life, like professionally, personally, you know, socially, like, you know.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's such a great question.
Speaker B:I'll tell you.
Speaker B:Flourishing for me means that it's not about staying where you are.
Speaker B:Okay?
Speaker B:So it's basically about pressing forward no matter what.
Speaker B:There will be barriers.
Speaker B:There will be.
Speaker B:It's not automatic.
Speaker B:It's not like, okay, I'm going to flourish today.
Speaker B:Like, it's, it's.
Speaker B:There will be things that will come in the way, like fear, like doubt, like curveballs, you know, disconnection from your purpose, whatever that means.
Speaker B:But it's important that we remember that we have to be fruitful.
Speaker B:We need to be resilient.
Speaker B:We need to have this vitality towards us and be ridding of the external circumstances and just truly believe in pressing forward and not being regardless of the circumstances.
Speaker A:I love that.
Speaker A:I love that.
Speaker A:And, and it just right away I, as you were saying that I'm like, okay, actually today, transparently, we're recording on March 4th, and oh my gosh, I have actually really have felt like I've been flourishing this year so far.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And, and it's, it's really quite incredible because I think I'll give you a perfect example.
Speaker A:Like, I'll give you a, like an example.
Speaker A:So we talked about it.
Speaker A:So one of the things I wanted to do this year is really work on branding, like branding technology side of myself more than I have in the past.
Speaker A:And so hired a really amazing brand coach shout outs to Cher Jones, just FYI.
Speaker A:She's incredible.
Speaker B:She's awesome.
Speaker A:And so we've been.
Speaker A:I think we've had, like, three or four sessions so far.
Speaker A:But one of the things I was talking about as to why I did it is that I recognize I've been in technology.
Speaker A:Like, I have.
Speaker A:I've had an appreciation for tech since I was, like, young.
Speaker A:Really, really young.
Speaker A:Like, I, you know, I got a computer like.
Speaker A:Like, really young age.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And I started programming.
Speaker A:I remember used to do it with my brother.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And we would create games.
Speaker A:I mean, like, we're talking about Commodore 64, Atari, you know, and all of those.
Speaker A:And it wasn't.
Speaker A:It wasn't a question.
Speaker A:I did math, computer science, and I started my career really in tech.
Speaker A:So I've always been in tech.
Speaker A:Yet it's the one thing that I don't talk about a lot, you know, okay.
Speaker A:Like, I don't do Q or, you know, and so.
Speaker A:So I start to explore that about myself, because I think it's not about.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's just.
Speaker A:It's something that I have shied away from.
Speaker A:And so I'm digging in on that.
Speaker A:And so today is like, what, day?
Speaker A: of: Speaker A:And would you believe I got a request today to talk about, like, AI and like, something like a topic about, like, some of the technology advancements or trends, whatever that I'm doing.
Speaker A:Yeah, I know.
Speaker B:Love it.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:And so I wrote back and I said, I just want to confirm.
Speaker A:Are you asking me to be on a panel or are you asking me to deliver, like, a keynote?
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:And it's funny, I didn't, like, I didn't feel any dread.
Speaker A:I was like, nah, man, I'm flourishing towards everything that I, you know.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's just part of the flourish.
Speaker A:The flourish is already flourishing.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And you know why is.
Speaker B:Because our minds are very, very, very, very powerful.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:You woke up.
Speaker B:You're waking up every day.
Speaker B:You've set the intention.
Speaker B:Mindset is a big thing.
Speaker B:And so you're in an active pursuit.
Speaker B:You're an active pursuit of flourishing.
Speaker B:And so it's not passive for you.
Speaker B:You're, like, being intentional about pursuit, pursuit of this.
Speaker B:And that's how it's happening.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:I love it.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:And so what I can actually say is, what can you expect?
Speaker A:And what I love about these episodes is that we will also be able to use these episodes to amplify some of the tactics, the the things that we're trying to.
Speaker A:To help others with.
Speaker A:So as I think about flourishing, there's a couple of components that we'll think about.
Speaker A:Like, we'll.
Speaker A:We'll talk through like, personal growth and well being and what that might look like.
Speaker A:You know, professional success and influence.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Meaningful relationships and community engagement.
Speaker A:I think these are all things that I.
Speaker A:I feel would be evident if you were flourishing.
Speaker A:Gravity, creativity and passion projects.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:Spiritual and mental clarity.
Speaker A:Ooh, that one's a big one.
Speaker A:And I think, you know, what I.
Speaker A:What I.
Speaker A:What I hope to get out of it for myself selfishly and for others is that I.
Speaker A:I would think that when you are flourishing, there's an ease that you feel to life and the situations that you're in, there's an energy that's inexplic and inexplicable.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:True story.
Speaker A:Even today, I.
Speaker A:I'm still reeling off of a weekend concert with Elevation Worship at Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto.
Speaker A:For anyone that's not local.
Speaker A:Oh my gosh.
Speaker A:It was so imagine 25, 000 people in an arena in this, in, in like coming together for their love of God, right?
Speaker A:Just loving God.
Speaker A:And it's magical.
Speaker A:I don't even.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's like what it does to your spirit and your soul.
Speaker A:It's just, It's.
Speaker A:It's different.
Speaker A:It ain't like a Beyonce concert, let me just tell you.
Speaker A:That's like it, like this is a different type of experience.
Speaker A:And it's my sec.
Speaker A:It's like my fourth time.
Speaker A:Because I, I.
Speaker A:Women evolve would be the same thin.
Speaker A:And I just love being in those type of environments.
Speaker A:Anyway, I've been writing it, so.
Speaker A:There's this song called Praise to Anyone.
Speaker A:It's by Elevation Worship.
Speaker A:It's a beautiful song and it just, it's really.
Speaker A:It says, let anything that has breath praise, praise the Lord.
Speaker A:Like, and so it's like so far as you have breath, you don't need much more than that to feel a sense of ease and gratitude and grace and.
Speaker A:And appreciation for life.
Speaker A:Because without that, there is none of that, you know, So I just.
Speaker A:Anyway, I let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Speaker B:I love it.
Speaker B:Oh my gosh.
Speaker B:I absolutely love it.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:Is there anything else you want to add or like, am I wrapping this up?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:I love this conversation because ultimately what I've heard from you and just reflecting on the word flourish, it really means more than just surviving or getting by.
Speaker B:It really truly is about thriving, growing vigorously reaching your full potential.
Speaker B:These are very important things and that ties in with all of them.
Speaker B:But specifically the spiritual and mental clarity, that last one that you had mentioned, because it allows you to be aligned, like with your inner peace and faith and gratitude.
Speaker B:I just feel it's so powerful.
Speaker A:It's so funny.
Speaker A:When you were saying that, it made me think about, hold on, let me see if I can find it.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:Maya Angelou's quote that says, my mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some stuff style that's flourishing.
Speaker A:And that's exactly Angelo style.
Speaker A:And so I'm going to use that to wrap up this episode because I love it.
Speaker A:We get to come at.
Speaker A:We get to come here to help you flourish through the entire year.
Speaker A:But for now, I have to say.
Speaker B:I'm Ink and I'm Gabby with one B.
Speaker A:And we're out.
Speaker A:Bye.
Speaker A:There you have it.
Speaker A:I trust that you are feeling more empowered in your skin.
Speaker A:As the late Dr.
Speaker A:Maya Angelou said, when you get, you give, when you learn, you teach.
Speaker A:So it would mean so much for us at Empower to My Skin Inc.
